A fine matched set of four. This set was drawn on stone by Louis Maurer who was both an artist and master lithographer. Both Nathanial Currier and James Ives were volunteer firemen in New York City in the days before a paid department was organized (1865). It has been noted that the figure in the lithograph, “Always Ready” is non-other than Nathanial Currier.
The set is scarce, especially as a matched set.
Good condition and color.
